Though a diverse group, we are drawn together by something we all have in common: namely, we all are banded together by our acknowledgement that each of us needs and wants what Jesus Christ offers to everyone; his life, forgiveness, a promised future, and now, partnership with him in his purpose to share his offer with those in our community and beyond. Bottom-line it means: We are a church "for" the city/culture/people where God has placed us-Wildwood Island, and through it the world.
Many churches are "of" the culture. They have become so much like the culture around them that is difficult to see the difference.
Some churches "oppose" the culture. They express such antagonism toward the culture that they lose their relevance.
Other churches act as if they are "above" the culture. They "hyper-spiritualize" life, losing their ability to identify with others.
Our MISSION: working to be a church that is "for" the culture. Jesus went into the world in order to be with us. Following this example, we are going into and engaging with our culture in order to bring his life and transformation to it.
